Maine set another record for tickborne disease in 2025, with about 3,650 Lyme disease cases reported according to preliminary Maine CDC data. Our tick control treats the parts of your yard where ticks live, so your family and pets can get outside without the worry.
Deer ticks (blacklegged ticks) spread Lyme disease, anaplasmosis and babesiosis. They don’t live in the middle of a sunny, mowed lawn — they wait in leaf litter, tall grass, stone walls, shady shrub beds and the edge where your yard meets the woods. That’s where we focus.

How Our Tick Control Works
- Yard inspection. We map the tick zones on your property — wood lines, stone walls, leaf piles, shaded beds, play areas and pet runs.
- Targeted treatments. We treat the lawn perimeter, landscape beds and transition zones where ticks wait for a host.
- Seasonal schedule. Treatments are spaced from spring through fall to cover both nymph season (late spring and early summer) and the fall adult season.
- Free re-treats. If you’re seeing ticks between visits, we come back at no additional cost.
Tick Season in Maine Is Longer Than You Think
- Spring (April–May): Adult deer ticks are active as soon as the snow melts and temperatures stay above freezing.
- Late spring–summer (May–July): Nymphs — about the size of a poppy seed — are most active. This is when most Lyme infections happen because nymphs are so hard to see.
- Fall (October–November): Adults are active again, often during yard cleanup and hunting season.
Ticks can be active on any day above freezing, which in Maine means protection matters from April through November.
Make Your Yard Less Tick-Friendly
- Keep grass mowed and rake leaf litter, especially along the wood line
- Put a 3-foot strip of wood chips or gravel between lawn and woods
- Stack firewood neatly in a dry, sunny spot
- Move swing sets and play areas away from woods’ edges
- Discourage deer with fencing or deer-resistant plantings
- Do a tick check after time outside and check your pets
Our general outdoor pest control also covers fleas, ants, spiders and other pests if you want broader protection.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I start tick control in Maine?
In early spring. Adult deer ticks are active as soon as the snow melts, and nymphs — the stage behind most Lyme infections — peak in late spring and early summer.
Does tick control get rid of every tick?
No yard treatment eliminates every tick, especially with deer and other wildlife moving through. It significantly reduces ticks in the areas you use most. Pair it with tick checks and repellent.
Is it safe for my dog?
Your technician will tell you how long to keep pets off treated areas, typically until the product dries. Keep your dog on a vet-recommended tick preventive too.
What kinds of ticks are in Maine?
The deer tick (blacklegged tick) and the American dog tick are the most common. Deer ticks carry Lyme disease, anaplasmosis and babesiosis.
What if I still see ticks?
Call us. We’ll re-treat between scheduled visits at no additional cost.
